I apologize for the lack of updates recently. After my last update I got a pretty sweet stomach virus that put me down for about a week. Since then I have been slowly working on making the individual bracket pieces I need to mount the pipe. It has been a slow process of gathering material, cutting out shapes, and hanging out with family for the holidays.Â
The part that took the longest was the plate for the bottom of the engine. I really should have done that when I had the engine out. First, I had to remove the bolts out of the bottom of the engine to make my template.  They basically refused to come out. I had to heat all of them with a torch to release the lock-tite and then hit them with a hammer to free them up. I seriously spent over an hour taking out 4 bolts. After that, I had to make my template…upside down. I cut one piece and drilled my holes, only to find out that it was way off. So, I started over and built another one with a better template, using cereal box cardboard this time instead of paper. I still had to slot a couple of my holes to get it to all line up, but it wasn’t too bad.
My plan now is to bring the bike and parts over to the shop on New Year’s so I can weld up the mount. I have a 220v stick welder at my house, but all the rods I have are old and not nearly dry enough. They refuse to strike and I’m too lazy to dry them out, especially when I know how much easier it is to use the MIG welder.  I could bring the MIG setup back to the house, but I think I’ll just bring the bike over there in the next few days and finish it up.
I’m anxious to hear this thing run.
Sorry for the delay and lack of video. I mocked up the pipe last night and it looks like I need to fabricate a bracket or two to hold it in place. This will probably take me a little while to do, but I’ll shoot some pictures and video as I go.
